New Years Resolutions

It is believed that every year on January 1st a person should make some type of resolution or attempt to better ones self by either giving up a bad habit or making a choice on a more positive path. I believe this can be a positive thing or it can turn you into a depressed mess if you goal is not achieved. As of now I have no idea what mine will be……stayed tuned.

I am curious to see what resolutions you all are making. Please feel free to share.

Happy New Year!??

First Snow and Clean Christmas Lawn, No socks with Sandals now!

Hi Everyone: First snow here of size in 2015 just in time for Christmas, I recommend removing all the snow from the driveway while its cold in the morning on these slushy days. Later it will not move as easily and be tough to deal with. After the driveway, to reveal the lights, I would go ahead and remove snow from the entire yard using a snowblower, down to the grass. In the day its not so picturesque but in the evening, perfection!

Also avoid sandals at this time outdoors, particularly open toe with socks, the wet socks will discolor your coordinated outfit, and possibly leach the sandal dye onto your foot leaving unseemly darker blotches which could be confused with bruising or even hematoma. finally, too long in the snow with wet socks in open toed sandals (like a brisk morning snow walk) may lead to dangerous hyperthermia and real blackened toes ala Everest.

Warm Winter = More time for outdoor baking

With the warm winter, why not move your holiday baking outdoors? Take the cookie dough and put it into the open fire pit for that unique smoky/campy flavor for a once in a lifetime flavor fest of holiday fun.
To get the fire pit going just pile some rocks in a circle, start the fire, burn down to coals, and sample the temperature with a thermometer at the level of the tray to make sure you have it right. Watch carefully so the cookies dont burn on the bottom!

Fashion, Travel, Baking, Puppies

Here are 4 quick advisories on these topics.

As winter chill rolls in, this year accessorize with real wool scarves that are the exact same color as your overcoat. Warm and creates a continuous illusion of height with your neck and scarf appearing to be part of your coat and torso.

If heading overseas, this is a good time to renew your passport

I would bake as much holiday cheer as you can now, and use that big freezer you have or buy one to save time with the family over the next month

Its a good time to get a pup, before the real winter sets in and guests arrive, so you can train it and get used to the holiday sleep deprivation
